Review: HipBone vs. HipPouch

So here's the deal. I recently purchased the first ever Hip Pouch from Chrome today. Apparently they just got them in today and I was the first to buy one. Totally like it more compared to the Hip bone.

So this is the Hip Bone, picture courtesy of Chrome Bags in SF. Anyways today I went back into the city for other reasons, and remembered my roommate JR wanting a Chrome Laptop Case. So i went there and got one for him. After looking around and not being able to find the Soyuz I caught the hip pouch. Something I was looking for, for quite some time now. I was willing to buy it from Freight Bags  or whatever they are called; haven't been able to successfully find it. So anyways I got lucky and found it at the Chrome Store. I do love Chrome. I have a messenger, a roll top messenger, and a regular messenger bag. I really needed this hip pouch because the bone really doesn't feel too well while riding. It bounce up and down on my rear especially with my mini u lock inside. My North Face fanny pack is good but TOOO big. Fit everything but looked funny. So I enjoy this latest purchase. go buy one before they run out.

Looks like my messenger bag, just miniature. MiniBag muahahahah

Big update:

Last week was spring break. Yeah sort of boring. But we went to Tahoe and that was pretty fun. Took some really ni

ce pictures and some stuff.
Friday:: Went bike riding in SF. Started at Haight and Ashbury went through 7th street. to laguna honda down portola, through st. francis heights to riordan, then to stonestown and so forth. Not bad. A lot of hill for a really hot day in SF. Then that night Gig at Castilleja don't know if thats how it was spelled.
Saturday:: Busy day, babe's sister's first communion. Then lunch. after that went to set up at De La Salle HS, for Junior Prom. Good set up..

Now for an update on my msi wind, or shall i say NetMac.

works smoothly, and is as light as a feather. Great tool. What makes it even better. It runs Serato Scratch Live. Perfect for me. Just bring this out with me to gigs. CLEANNNNN.

Time to update.

TUESDAY:
Usual school business. After classes was a typical TNR. SJFixed's known Tuesday Night Ride, I do
have pictures but not soo much. As for the route w
e did the usual meet at the Fountain at San Jose State University. and continued on. Here is somewhat of the route we follow. It was a little changed on the way but pretty similar. Here's a pic of Fowler Park
We'll see if I remember to upload another picture of the group that went on the ride. It's on JR's phone.

WEDNESDAY

So wednesday, was my usual school schedule plus a meeting with my teacher. After everyth
ing I went to Performance Bike to buy some PLASTIC toe clips/cages. Thought I'd try them out for a while. Everyone's been switching to them and I decided to try them out. After that babe and I went to Hellyer Park to walk evo our dog. We checked out the velodrome for the first time. SIIICK. Sooner or later I'll go there to race. Until then I will make trips to watch or to go to the park which was hella nice. Maybe have a barbeque there/get together with friends.

After that I was seriously hungry so we went to Hukilau in San Jose, near Japantown where we
will be living next year in the Esplanades. So I ordered my usual the Chicken Teriyaki. I always order it everywhere I go, but you have no idea how delicious it is.
I reccomend going there, however remember to go there when they are open they are usually
close between 2 or something and open up again at 5. Thats what most of the restaurant
s in Japantown are like. Here's some pics:

THURSDAY Today

So today last school day for me before Spring Break! Woo. very exciting. Anyways today after classes I was "tarcking" with the peeps from SJF. Oh I also am going to join SJF in Anaheim to watch the San Jose Sharks play the Anaheim Ducks. Very exciting. I really can't wait for that. Anyways back to today:

Yeah thats wsup. Anyways im doing laundry and then I'll be heading back to SF peace!

New Toy

Ok so I know I'm trying to save up for the D90 but I got derailed into getting one thing that I have also been longing for, an MSI Wind.

I did buy the black one from Best Buy yesterday after work. A few weeks ago it was $350, and yesterday there was a price drop for $309 so I went for it. However, the white one is on sale for $350 but i don't think they had it in stock. So the reason I am no into this netbook, as for those who know me I love and will never give up Apple, is to double boot the sucker. Yeah so I currently own a MacBook Pro, iMac g4 old one still works. Running the latest version of OSX of course. Now for the Wind U100. This compact sucker has a lot of potential. As for the tech specs:
• Intel® Atom™ N270 Processor
• Genuine Windows® software is published by Microsoft and licensed and supported by Microsoft or an authorized licensor. Genuine software helps protect you from the risks of counterfeit software, provides you with special benefits and the experience and support you expect. Learn more by visiting www.microsoft.com/genuine.  Windows XP Home
• 10” Wide Screen Display
• Convenient Magnifying Capability
• Ergonomic Big-Size Keyboard and Touch Pad
• Hard Drive with Massive Capacity (160gb)
• Built-in High Resolution Mega Pixels Webcam
• Built-in High-Performance 2 Channel Stereo Speakers, and Microphone
• 802.11b / g / n Wireless Lan with Bluetooth
• Comprehensive Multi-Media Application Interface
(Information complements of the msi website)

So based on all the information above you could say that its pretty awesome for something so small. However I don't believe it states that it came with 1gb of ram pretty good. Better then the previous versions with only 512mb of ram and/or 80gb of hard drive space.

Very awesome  I think. So what I am going to do for this little suckerrr is partition the drive and add OSX on one of the partitions. Don't ask me how to do it or whatever, use google, it does wonders. Anyways continuing on. Sometime once I figure out how to do the whole creating OSX on the wind I will do it all over again, but replace my 160gb hard drive for a 500gb hard drive. More SPACEEE!!! Once that is all done, there is a touchscreen panel which could also be found somewhere online. My friend does own a wind and has done all of this completely, and working without the touchscreen installed. he does have the touchscreen but haven't had the time to install it.

Yea so I will try to keep you updated with my wind. So now i am set back a little with the D90 but you never know what can come up. So moving on forward. Its not that bad of a set back because The money I used for the wind was really for spring break coming up. Stay tuned readers!

octagon

today/yesterday: since its 2.32am when i am writing this i guess you can say "yesterday" i did the following. Went to DJ Qbert's house today. Got a grand tour and had a session with eldawg today at the octagon.. pretty cool. Then we had a gig at Presidio Golden Gate Club. Took some video with Chris' 5dmk2 clean as hell.

so hopefully chris edits the footage and posts
that up so i can do so here. Just to show and tell. I do have a few pics to
share....
please. If you are having a wedding..don't forget to get vendor meals. or if you choose not to provide vendor meals. please tell your vendors that there will be no food for them. We dealt with no food or extra chairs for us tonight. It waas pretty bad but we didnt complain, and did our job. Just a friendly reminder for those out there reading this. We usually are busy all day working to get things together prepare, and then set up for you day. And most of the time don't have time to eat anything. Some of us even work before we go to a gig. So after we get off we prepare and set up without a break. Im tired and a little tired. until next time

my thoughts on the D90

So here i am again with the Nikon D90. I like it a lot for its price. Don't get me wrong I would love to have a Canon 5d markii or another Nikon D300 or D700. Something. But money doesn't grow on trees. And I'm sort of short on cash so IDK.
So I'm gonna write this sort of compared to my current SLR the Nikon D50. Durr So here's another picture of the D90 (without the mb-80 grip). So based on Nikon's website and tech specs the D90 has

  • 12.3 megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor(D50 6.1mp)
  • Continuous shooting @ 4.5 fps
  • first DSLR with HD movie mode (24fps w/ sound @720p) enhanced by NIKKOR interchangeable lens
  • Low noise ISO sensitivity fromm 200 to 3200 (compared to my D50 up 1600)
  • 3-inch super density LCD monitor (2" or 2.5" on my D50)
  • Built-in image sensor cleaning (D50 none whatsoever)
  • 11 point AF system
  • One button live view
  • Nikon 3d matrix metering II w/ scene recognition system
  • Comprehensive exposure control
  • D-Lighting(tames high-contrast situations in real time)
  • In-Camera Image editing
  • GPS geo tagging optional
From what I think obviously it beats my 4 year old D50. So for how much it costs i think its pretty much worth its money. I like the fact that there is no auto-focus during movie mode because it allows me to add cinematic shots to whatever im shooting.

So what I would want to get with the D90 would be:
  • BM-10 lcd monitor cover (tired of getting my screen oily and scratched up)
  • Of course another battery
  • MB-80 Multi power battery pack
  • New Flash? Possibly the SB900 but thats probably after the camera and some lens
  • Either: wireless remote or remote cord
  • probably a Sigma 8mm f/3.5 fisheye
  • a good telephoto lens
  • a better tripod
  • and the list goes on...
who cares right..i just keep babling on. If someone else is really reading this, do they happen to know if I could use my current sb800 as the control unit and possibly a sb600 as the slave. I've read it somewhere but totally lost it. I dont want to have to purchase a su-800. Damn I have a lot of money that I need to save....

today usual business..school. had a midterm ate food went to class. Tarcked a bit in front of caesar chavez memorial. nothing much im just tirred. we ate at smokes. then picked up role models and watched that shit.

current goal: is to get a new dslr body. i want the d90 cus of the d-movie. thats it!
nough of the bikes for a while. its too much to handle at the moment. as far as my bikes go all i want is a trispoke either HED3 or specialized whichever. but back to the camera. nikon d90 with mb80 battery grip. maybe a 28mm 2.8 or similar. i want something with a low f/ but a bit wider angle. the 50mm is cool but too up close for me. i kind of want a 12-24 or something. i know they have it for cannon but theres no time or money to all of a sudden change to a canon when i have all these lenses and such for a nikon. so im gna stick with the d90 and 720p HD movie at 24fps.. wish i had like $10k so i can get a 5d mk2 with grip and all the lenses i could ever wish for muahahahah. too bad. life's tough so get a helmet. time to find another job. its too hard working one day a week in sf. not making them moneys. i'll finish this review/want list later. im tired i have class early in the morning. peace

friday was JR's birthday, and at 12am midnight we saw watchmen..yeah probably should have finished reading the comic but i must say that i really enjoyed the movie. Kind of think that the silk specter was totally hot..besides the fact that she was totally nude during the movie..she is pretty hot except for her part in that other movie, which just slipped my mind. so besides that after the movies ford "popped" jr with popcorn. So basically he through all the kettle corn on him. it wasnt as funny as we thought it would be. the next morning me and babe woke up extremely early so that we could bring her siblings around. so we went back to daly city. and when we got there we went to Cal. Academy of Sciences, cus we pretty much get in for free. Kind of one the plus' of working for zeum. it was pretty fun actually we almost did everything we didnt do last time except the rainforest, because its closed down for renovations or something. took some video and what not:

Here is some vi
deo.
Video is always fun. So i was completely tired by the time we got to the planetarium, Once we sat down and i looked into the dome, i got dizzy. I already knew that i was going to get some sort of vertigo. Which did happen actually. I fell asleep. Yeah i know what a waste but its ok cus i get in for free. doesnt hury my pockets. the only thing i have to pay for is parking which is costly, but not as much as the $25 entrance fee for adults and $15 for kids.
Did some more celebrating for JR that evening. Then woke up late on saturday. maybe got back to SF around 5 had to be at work for an event at 530. that was tiring too. not too exciting.sunday had work again. the usual. except this day i was really busy all day and was running around like crazy. today was a usual monday. woke up did stuff. ate some BJ's for lunch pizoookie. walked around oakridge mall, then visited valley fair to get some new earrings again. babe walked around. i got some ice cream from mcd's. after that we got stuck in traffic..horrible then drove around trying to escape the traffic and stopped at safeway to get some stuff for dinner. Dinner we had some chicken parmigiana sandwiches with fries..... and i baked a cake..marble cake to be exact, with some strawberry frosting. mmm good. and then i went back to the dorms. watched freedom writers for my essay. did my essay and now this. soo now time to sleep. gnite.

Long time no...

Ok. well i get really lazy sometimes with this stuff but here we go..
So over the weekend me and babe went to tahoe
for a day trip. Pretty good
until i slammed my head against the floor. SUCKED. But it was beautiful up there so not soo bad. Represented SJF in the snow, when i was bored. Too bad you can't really see it but its ok.
As for the rest of the day, we went to a snow park so my brother could have some sort of fun in the snow, he did some sledding, and we all made a snowman, something you would do in the snow right
So that was pretty much my weekend besides work and going back to San Jose. Monday didn't do much just hung out, bought some new jeans at Great Mall, and a new shirt. tuesday: sucked rained all day couldn't get to do much. For the usual TNR(tuesday night ride) me and JR went to MQH(MacQuarieHall) To tarck met up with Andoo, Taylor, and William. Got a free helmet from Taylor, and then tarked around for a bit, then got dinner and ate at babe's apartment. While helping JR with his project we watched "Daddy's Little Girls", and "How to Ignore Your Friends and Alienate People" I love netflix the best service ever. I typically get 6-9 dvds a week and on top of that watch regular movies streamed through the internet. Pretty bad ass for only $19 a month. I was paying over $40 off of regular rentals at Blockbuster and that would only be for 6 movies in a month. So I say that I bought something well worth it. I'm actually considering of getting the Netflix player. Fills any room with instant entertainment, rather then buying an Xbox 360 for my apartment next semester I'm going to get this for my room. So from there i wouldnt have to hook up my laptop to watch my movies instantly. Great investment. Netflix should hire me to promote their services. Hahaha. today well i had class this morning, didn't really want to wake up and just kept snoozing the alarm as always. What can I say, when a growing boy needs 8 hours of sleep i try to get 9hours. Didn't get that today but I will make up for it tonight. After class I got a taco salad, and bought a new SJSU sweater. Now I'm just waiting for JR and Babe to get out of english so we can go to BR&F Spray Inc., in Santa Clara to check out some powdercoating services for their bikes. $75 not too shabby, seen some of their work and its good work for their price, so hopefully their prices haven't changed. We'll see..until next time iBeatMix
